Live Oak Celebrates Culture and Connection During Start With Hello Week

Live Oak Elementary celebrated Start With Hello Week with activities focused on connection, belonging, and building a welcoming school community. One of the week’s special highlights was Culture Day and Culture Show and Tell, giving students an opportunity to celebrate and share the cultures and traditions that make their school community special.

Students were invited to come to school wearing clothing or accessories that represented their culture, filling the campus with a colorful celebration of backgrounds, traditions, and family heritage.

The celebration continued during lunch with a special Culture Show and Tell in the MPR. Students had the opportunity to bring an item connected to their culture and share its meaning with their classmates. From meaningful objects and family traditions to clothing and other cultural items, students were able to learn more about one another while proudly sharing a piece of their own story.

The activity fit perfectly with the spirit of Start With Hello Week, which encourages students to reach out, make connections, and help create a school environment where everyone feels seen and included.

Through Culture Day, Live Oak students discovered that sometimes a simple conversation—asking a classmate about a tradition, an item, or their family’s culture—can be a great way to start with hello and build a new connection.

It was a fun and meaningful celebration of the many students and families who make Live Oak Elementary such a special community.
