The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) is excited to announce the launch of its new Rising Reader Award, a monthly recognition program that celebrates students across the district for their outstanding dedication to reading. Each month, the FUESD Governing Board will honor students from each school who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to reading, fostering a love for learning and literacy throughout the district.

This September marks the first month of the program, with awards being given out at school sites and recognition shared at Governing Board meetings. The Rising Reader Award is designed to spotlight students who show exceptional dedication to reading, encourage healthy competition, and promote literacy as a core value across all grade levels.

“This is the first month of our new reading challenge, and students of Fallbrook have read over 79,000 minutes, which translates to more than 1,800 hours. We are so proud of our students for being strong readers, unlocking the door to success in their future studies and careers. But more importantly, it’s the joy of reading that you will carry with you throughout your whole life,” said Suzanne Lundin, Governing Board Vice President.

The FUESD Governing Board is proud to recognize the following students as our Rising Readers for the month of September:

  • Kayden Q. – San Onofre School, 2nd Grade
  • Mckay M. – La Paloma Elementary, 4th Grade
  • Bryce B. – Potter Junior High School, 7th Grade
  • Maciey W. – Mary Fay Pendleton School, 8th Grade
  • Iker L. – Live Oak Elementary, 5th Grade
  • Alexis S. – Fallbrook STEM Academy, 5th Grade
  • Eleanor G. – Maie Ellis Elementary, 6th Grade
  • Salvador S. – William H. Frazier Elementary, 6th Grade

In addition to receiving recognition, the FUESD District Office worked closely with students’ teachers to discover each student’s favorite types of books. Handpicked books were then selected and gifted to each student to further encourage their love of reading.

The Rising Reader Award will continue on a monthly basis, with students being recognized for their reading achievements and efforts to grow as readers. The FUESD Governing Board hopes this program will inspire more students to dive into books and explore the joys of reading.
